Beaver Named Advocate of the Year

The Palmetto State School Counselor Association is pleased to announce our 2021 School Counselor Advocate of the Year, Sherrie Beaver

Mrs. Beaver currently serves at the South Carolina Department of Education in the Office of Student Intervention Services as the School Counseling Personnel Liaison.  She advocates tirelessly on behalf of school counselors across the state ensuring that we have a voice in legislative developments that have direct impacts on our profession.  She also currently serves as a governing board member of the Palmetto State School Counselor Association. 

The purpose of the Advocate of the Year Award is to recognize persons who have demonstrated their beliefs in and support of school counseling programs that have had an impact on counselors and their students at the local, state, or national level. 

The Palmetto State School Counselor Association (PSSCA) is a statewide nonprofit organization. PSSCA helps advance the profession of school counseling by assisting South Carolina school counselors with guiding their students toward academic achievement, career planning and social/emotional development in order to help today’s students become tomorrow’s productive, contributing members of society.
