Youth Mental Health First Aid Training for Educators

  • June 15, 2022
  • 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM

This is an SCDE Sponsored Event

The Office of Student Intervention Services will sponsor Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) for South Carolina educators on June 15, 2022, from 9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. This virtual training is designed to teach participants how to help a student (age 12–18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis.

All participants who complete the full-day training will receive a certificate of completion as a certified mental health first-aider, along with a stipend. This certification, however, does not certify participants as mental health first aid instructors.

There is no cost to attend the YMHFA training; however, registration is required. Space is limited to 60 classroom teachers on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please share this information with educators and encourage them to register as soon as possible, but no later than June 1, 2022, at YMHFA Registration (June 15). Confirmed registrants will receive additional information from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.

For more information, contact Chenise Wiley, Program Coordinator, at 803-734-1546 or dcwiley@ed.sc.gov.
