Lindsay Harman

I am honored to serve as the Middle Level VP for PSSCA. As a school counselor for thirteen years now, eleven of those years have been spent in the middle school level. I appreciate the complexities of the middle school counselors' role and understand that support and advocacy is so necessary at this level. My participation on the PSSCA board as Middle Level VP is a result of my ongoing interests and advocacy for middle school counselors. I seek to further connect with middle school counselors throughout South Carolina and learn about advocacy efforts that I can assist with.

As the school counseling profession continues to transform and progress, I welcome the opportunity to support South Carolina middle school counselors in their pursuit of comprehensive school counseling programs. I enjoy serving as a mentor to new school counselors, assisting them with their endeavors as they transition in to their new roles. Navigating the school environment and establishing professional identity is a challenge that we school counselors face. That being said, I also seek to support seasoned school counselors with the ongoing program goals that they aim to implement in their schools.

My experiences with the ASCA National Model have given me an opportunity to learn so much about the impact that school counselors have on student learning and behavior. I have had the privilege of obtaining the RAMP designation at two separate schools and my current department at Westview Middle School in Berkeley County School District holds the re-RAMP designation. Additionally, I have served as a national RAMP reviewer for ASCA for six years now, as well as assist with local, regional and state counseling programs that seek the designation. The work that school counselors are doing throughout our country continues to amaze me. I am very proud to be a part of this profession.

As we begin to progress through this school year, I welcome any advice, input or suggestions that the middle school counselors offer to the PSSCA board. I am here to be your voice and serve to meet your needs. Please reach out.
